The Best Way to Prepare your Garden for Summer
Are you wanting a bountiful harvest this summer? Well spring is here so its time to get that garden ready!
There are many ways to prepare your garden for summer, slow release fertilisers and Microbial based products are one of the best ways to prepare for success. As an organically driven company one of our favorite methods of boosting our gardens is by the introduction of microbes. Microbes are microscopic organisms that can help your garden in a variety of ways, from increasing nutrient uptake to helping minimize disease and pest issues - microbes might be the organic solution to your problems.
Here are 3 Products that will help boost your summer garden by increasing microbial life in your plants root zone!
Mycorrhizae is one of the the most popular microbe products that we sell. It significantly increases root development & nutrient uptake which leads to larger plants that are able to bear more fruits or flowers. If you are looking for a mycorrhizal based product then we suggest that you look at the Xtreme Gardening Mycos product in a powdered or granular version, powdered is best used in a watering can for existing plants and granular is best best used when doing your transplants.
The "Myco" Products contains the following natively available microbes: Rhizophagus intraradices (Also know as - Glomus intraradices )300 propagules / gram
Bacillus is another popular microbe for the garden. These microorganisms are some of the primary agents responsible for breaking down organic material and cycling nutrients in the root zone. These microbes work by colonizing your root zone and providing antibiotics as well as bio active compounds that feed and protect your plant. Some Bacillus strains are capable of solubilizing phosphorus and potassium which will promote growth and lead to increased fruit size and more flower sites. If you are looking for a good bacillus based product then we highly suggest using Xtreme Gardening Versity. Versity contains a highly concentrated blend of Bacillus microbes and is ideal for both outdoor and indoor crops. Bacillus based products like Versity and are compatible with both organic and synthetic fertilizer programs.

Other options that aren't microbial based but still highly recommended to boost your summer garden:
Slow release fertiliser is a good low maintenance option for demanding plants such as veggies or citrus trees, the one time application simplifies things and makes it very easy to use. Applying these fertilisers to your garden at the beginning of the growing season ensures that your plants will have optimum nutrition throughout summer. If you are looking for a product that is suitable for Fruit trees then the Morton - Citrus Fertiliser is a good option, if you area looking for an all purpose product then the Morton - All purpose Fertilser is your answer.
Worm castings are another great option for the garden. Worm castings are basically worm poo that is made from broken down organic matter. Worm castings increase the amount of organic matter in your garden which will lead to higher levels of bio-available nutrients which are great for plant growth. We use worm castings to provide nutrients to our plants but due to the organic nature of worm castings, using products like this will also lead to increased levels of microbial activity within your soil.
So that's what we recommend to help boost your garden...
Hopefully this helped you, now its time to go super charge that garden - hopefully you end up with that harvest you've been dreaming about!
Happy growing!
